Just in time for the weekend, the snow has cleared in Washington, DC and Congress is back to work.
Yesterday:
The President’s Council of Economic Advisors released their economic forecast yesterday (here), and the picture that the it portrayed was not so bright. However, that didn’t stop the White House from continuing to push
for their sweeping agenda of reforming health care, restructuring financial regulations, and mitigating long-term budget deficits (here).
Jobs Bill:
Good legislation or not, Senator Grassley and Senator Baucus unveiled their bi-partisan jobs bill yesterday (here) and the White House came out in support of the bill (here). Senator Reid hours then commenced to stomp on the newly invigorated bi-partisanship by denouncing the bill and pushing his partisan in its place (here). Reid’s bill strips out the tax policies that the Republicans would like to see in the bill.
We will have updates on all of these policies as they continue to develop over the next couple of weeks.
