The Market Institute is proud to lead a coalition of taxpayer and free market organizations in urging Congress to adopt long-overdue site-neutral payment reforms in Medicare. We coordinated the letter below to bring attention to the urgent need for policy change that eliminates unfair pricing disparities in the healthcare system.
Under current law, Medicare often pays significantly more for the exact same procedure depending on where it is performed—typically favoring large hospital systems over independent physician practices. This anti-competitive policy fuels consolidation, inflates costs, and limits patient choice.
Site-neutral reforms would restore fairness, promote competition, and save taxpayers an estimated $150 billion over the next decade. The time to act is now.
